Concretely, camel milk producers in France have the possibility of offering their camel milk for sale to individuals as well as to retailers, in compliance with the law and health obligations specified on the guidance document concerning the application of the provisions of Regulation (EC) 853/2004.

This document laying down specific hygiene rules applicable to food of animal origin, indicates as an example for other animal species, that the on the camel milk market is possible provided that the production and processing of this milk is carried out in accordance with the requirements of regulations (EC) n° 852/2004 and (EC) 853/2004.

Therefore, European regulations pose no obstacle in principle to the production and processing of this milk; in this sense, France does not derogate from this principle.

The French camelid breeders can benefit from the same application of Community food safety regulations as other countries from other EU.
